Punjab Grill: Singapore’s First Indian Restaurant to Feature the Impossible Meat

Chef Javed, the head chef of Punjab Grill, has curated a three-course vegan menu with the Impossible Meat!

In today’s world of increasing demands for meat, is it possible for beef to not be beef? The answer might be ‘no’ a few years ago, but with today’s technological advancements, the answer is a resounding ‘yes!’.

Meet the “Impossible Meat” (Pun intended.).

Is the Impossible Meat more plant or more beef? Yes.

What is the “Impossible Meat”? The Impossible Meat is a plant-based meat made by Impossible Foods – a brand that has set their vision to cheat on beef. Their mission: To create the impossible; and this time, they’ve accomplished that mission by creating meat based on wheat protein, coconut oil, and a binder. The result is a meat-like ingredient that has the flavour, sizzle, and texture to that of beef.

Bringing this new meat to the forefront of Singapore’s food industry is Punjab Grill. Chef Javed, the head chef of Punjab Grill, and his team has curated a three-course totally vegan menu with the Impossible Meat in the limelight.

You have no idea how beef-tasting plant meat can go so well with pan cakes.

One of Chef Javed’s masterfully crafted dish with the Impossible Meat is the Lentils & Berries Pan Cakes topped with Impossible Meat Bharta and Curry Leaves Powder. Who knew that a plant-based beef-tasting patty could go so well with pan cake? Despite the sweetness from the combination of lentils and berries, the Impossible Meat adds a savoury layer to the dish.

Another dish involving the Impossible Meat made by Chef Javed is the Impossible Kofta Curry with Saffron Gravy. We had the honour from Chef Javed himself to pour the gravy over the dish for us. His steady hand is what brings the presentation of the dish to greater heights. We like how the gravy goes really well with the rice and the Impossible Meat. It is really comforting to know that every dish with the Impossible Meat is a healthy choice filled with vitamins from the plant base while tasting like beef.

It was an honour to have Chef Javed personally prepare every single dish for us in his Impossible Menu.

At an Indian Restaurant, you can never go wrong with a Tandoori Sheekh Kebab dish. As part of his menu, Chef Javed has also included his rendition of the Tandoori Sheekh Kebab. Don’t worry; the dish is also part of his Impossible Menu fit for all vegans looking for a good Impossible Meat option.

The Impossible Meat really exceeded our expectations of how plant-based beef should taste like. Nutritionally, it also trumps what meat can give too with all the different vitamins. The future for meat is brighter now that Impossible Foods is in Singapore.

If you would like to have a taste of the Impossible Meat and Chef Javed’s culinary genius, be sure to stop by Punjab Grill at at B1-01A, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands South Podium, 2 Bayfront Avenue, S(018972).
